Most quantitative systems chase breakouts or follow trends. The EchoBand Protocol takes the opposite stance: it identifies moments when price has become significantly overextended relative to its recent volatility envelope and momentum, then participates in the statistical tendency of price to revert toward its mean.
By combining Bollinger Bands for deviation measurement, RSI for momentum exhaustion, declining volume for confirmation of weakening conviction, and low ADX to ensure we operate in mean-reverting rather than trending regimes, the system creates a high-conviction filter for participation opportunities.

All conditions must be met simultaneously on the closed bar for a valid signal.
Bullish Participation Opportunity
Long Setup
- Price closes below the lower Bollinger Band (20, 2.0)
- RSI (14) registers below 30 (oversold condition)
- Current volume is lower than its 20-period simple moving average (exhaustion)
- ADX (14) remains below 25 (confirms ranging, mean-reverting environment)
Bearish Participation Opportunity
Short Setup
- Price closes above the upper Bollinger Band (20, 2.0)
- RSI (14) registers above 70 (overbought condition)
- Current volume is lower than its 20-period simple moving average (exhaustion)
- ADX (14) remains below 25 (confirms ranging, mean-reverting environment)
Stop Loss
Dynamic stop loss placed at 1.5 × ATR(14) beyond the entry price. This volatility-adjusted distance adapts to current market conditions and protects capital during unexpected expansions.
Take Profit
Primary target: reversion to the Bollinger Band middle band. Alternative: fixed 1:2 risk-reward ratio calculated from the stop-loss distance. The system favors mean reversion to the statistical center.
Position Sizing
Strict 1% account risk per participation opportunity. Lot size is automatically calculated based on stop-loss distance, account balance, and broker specifications. Only one open position allowed at any time.

How to Deploy the EchoBand Protocol
