Most tools fire on every wiggle. BroadReach waits for a genuine directional range expansion — confirmed by real participation and an active market — before it commits. Only two gauges, no crowded dashboard.
Range Expansion Index (REI)
A bounded −100…+100 gauge of net directional range expansion (DeMark, window 8). A zero-line cross marks a thrust igniting.
Volume ROC
Participation check over 14 bars. We only act when volume hasn’t dried up (VROC ≥ −20%), skipping hollow, low-conviction flips.
Zero-Line Cross = Trigger
REI crosses above 0 → up-thrust (long). Crosses below 0 → down-thrust (short). Symmetric for both directions.
ATR Activity Floor
Act only when volatility ≥ 0.4× its 50-bar average — sleepy, illiquid sessions are filtered out.
